23.1.12

Well that was brutal.

Friday night i was feeling pretty ok until just after dinner then boom, the sickness emerged. I attributed it to baby since my dinners don't always sit the best in the evening but this was a little too projectile for my liking. I got the ick Flu feeling just before bed but man, I haven't had a flu like this in I don't even know how long.

I woke up around 11:30pm and the back and forth to the washroom was pretty steady every 25 minutes until 4:30am when my husband woke up and all I could say was "I've been throwing up for 5 straight hours" before slowly crawling back into bed. We paged the midwife and on her advice, pulled on some clothes and headed into the ER. If I wasn't pregnant, I would have just waited this thing out, but the dehydration was an issue so we went in. It kinda made me laugh when we got there and I was like "oh hey, this is the ER I went to when I accidentally sliced my arm open before leaving for NZ". The ERs in this city are like a walking tour of my ridiculous health stories. And poor Jimmy's had to be there almost every single time.

It was also pretty funny to see 2 girls dressed for the bar sitting in the ER and hearing one of them say to the other "well, as soon as she punched me, I didn't feel drunk anymore". I believe she was waiting for a tetanus shot. At 5am. This is the moment I felt grateful for the flu I had being much happier to not be in her shoes.

After a full IV bag, blood drawn, intravenous Gravol and 4.5 hours, we were headed home.

I slept most of the day away and missed my father in law's birthday dinner/all of the family coming in to T.O for it, my bestie's bday celebration and a baby shower I was attending on Sunday. I don't think I left the bed for more than 10 minutes straight for 2 days.

Like I said, pretty damn brutal. However, we heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time on Friday morning and I'll tell you, that made everything better. I don't think I've ever heard anything quite so incredible in my entire life.

So in light of that, I think this might have been the best weekend I've ever ever had :)
