i can't think of the last time i was able to spend an entire weekend:
a) not hanging over the toilet having baby induced weekend long sickness
b) crossing things off not the 'to do' list but the 'want to do' list
c) hanging out with my husband from friday night until monday morning
it was amazing. but whoa, WHOA. i am in fill on mommy mode. big time.
baby is baking along nicely. i am still in all of my pre-pregnancy pants but now have the help of elastic bands holding them closed. thank god for belly bands! we're at 18 weeks now with only 2 left to wait until we find out who we've got in there. bets are going either way for boy vs girl right now. james says boy but i am thinking girl. no idea why.
i was able to finally tackle some of the sewing mom and i started a few weeks ago. pinning and sewing a few bibs at a time - slow and steady. let's hope the baby doesn't mind crooked seams.
the collection of finished products is slowly growing, i am excited for the day when i have more sewn and complete than cut and pinned waiting to be finished. i am super happy about the care bears material though - how cute is that??
i found another really cute pattern on this blog on friday and on our trip out on sat picked up a few random pieces of material to give it a try. i have all of the table runners from the wedding left over which worked out perfectly for the backing of these cute little guys.
they are nowhere near as well done as the blog i found them on but since i am lacking in any kind of sweet measuring/cutting mat that my mom has, i did it all with a 'close enough' attitude. this set is for nina and i made a set for jimmy and i too. they are pretty imperfect but hey, that's ok with me!
i also got deep into the cooking this weekend, it was so so nice to not feel sick and be able to stomach everything. we definitely started sunday off right with a little recipe i think i stole off my nan. not too sure - but basically the easiest thing ever to make.
i dug up another old recipe and used up those sad looking frozen bananas we've had in the freezer for what seems like forever.
even though my oven is pretty unpredictable and usually really enjoys burning everything i try to bake, these turned out really well and the recipe was right on the nose with 20 mins at 375.
once i was able to break into the jar (nice sealing job ladies!) i was so happy i did - they smelled and looked incredible.
i was able to get 2 nice sized crumbles out of the jar and we devoured one last night and i popped the other in the freezer for another day. let's be honest, that day could be today.
and we weren't the only one's digging the weekend at home. the girls had a 48 hours snuggle fest and would not leave our sides. bernie always wants to be in the centre of everything while betty will watch from the comfort of their little bed. i think she napped for 7 hours yesterday. epic.
i think a second one of these little beds is in order for the girl's bday which is coming up in about 2 weeks. for now, i will get no end of enjoyment from seeing them both in there together. since when did my babies get so big??
hope you all had a great weekend too. we're topping it all off with a trip to the midwife to hear the babe's heartbeat tonight - i simply cannot think of anything i'd want to do more. xo
